How can I check the status of my state or federal refund?

Federal
You can check the status of your federal refund at the IRS' Where's My Refund 72 hours after the IRS has accepted your e-filing. 

To verify your information, you must provide:
  • your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
  • federal filing status, and 
  • exact federal refund amount located on Line 35a of your federal tax return (Form 1040).

Please note that this IRS site allows you to track the status of your 2022, 2023, 2024  federal refunds.

Arizona
You can check the status of your Arizona state refund on the Arizona Department of Revenue website here.

To verify your information, you must provide:
  • your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
  • state filing status
  • ZIP code, and
  • tax Year of the return

Idaho
You can check the status of your Idaho state refund on the Idaho State Tax Commission website here.

To verify your information, you must provide:
  • your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), and
  • your refund amount from Line 56 of your state tax return (Idaho Form 40)

Maryland
You can check the status of your current year Maryland state refund on the Comptroller of Maryland website here.

To verify your information, you must provide:
  • your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), and
  • your refund amount from Line 48 of your state tax return (Maryland Form 502)

New Jersey
You can check the status of your New Jersey state refund on the New Jersey Department of the Treasury website here.

To verify your information, you must provide:
  • your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), and
  • your refund amount from Line 80 of your state tax return (New Jersey Form NJ-1040), and
  • Tax Year of the return

North Carolina
You can check the status of your North Carolina state refund on the North Carolina Department of Revenue website here.

To verify your information, you must provide:
  • your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), and
  • your refund amount from Line 34 of your state tax return (North Carolina Form D-400)
